The kick-off meeting of the CARAMEL project took place in San Sebastián (Spain) on December 3-5, 2024. Hosted by Vicomtech, the project coordinator, the kick-off meeting brought together 25 partners from 11 countries, including leading universities, hospitals, tech companies, and healthcare organizations. CARAMEL (CArdiovascular Risk Assessment in MEnopausaL women via multimodal data analysis enabling personalized prevention strategies) is an Horizon Europe project set to revolutionize cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention in menopausal women by leveraging artificial intelligence, multimodal data, and digital self-assessment tools. Over three days of discussions, workshops, and technical sessions, the partners laid the groundwork for a transformative initiative aimed at bridging the gap between scientific research and real-world impact in women’s cardiovascular health.
Laying the foundations for innovation
The meeting began with a warm welcome from the Project Coordinator Ivan Macía (VICOMTECH), followed by a comprehensive project overview, outlining the methodologies and expected outcomes of CARAMEL. Each partner had the opportunity to introduce their role in a series of dynamic two-minute presentations, showcasing the diverse expertise within the consortium. The project also emphasizes inclusivity and interdisciplinary collaboration as key priorities. Above all, CARAMEL is a people-centered initiative that merges real-life experiences with cutting-edge science to push the boundaries of cardiovascular prevention.
